Dakota's Story

In 2009 I started my freshman year at Fort Lewis College not being a Christian.  I lived only for my self.  Low and behold, that semester I was invited to the Master Plan Ministries weekly meeting on campus and it was here were I heard the Gospel and started to understand my need for Jesus and the forgiveness of my sins.  As I grew in my relationship with Jesus, I continued to see the same things I was involved in before I accepted Christ into my life all around me. My peers were living the college life style doing nearly
everything under the sun. My heart broke for them and knowing God’s love and desire for these students to come into a personal relationship with himself I began to pray about what God wanted me to do about it.  Jesus say’s in Matthew 9:37-38, “ The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few, therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” I began to desire God’s heart for the lost and my play in it. This brought me to Jesus giving the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20, “ Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Master Plan Ministries desires to reach college students with the Good News of Jesus Christ, build them up in their faith and send them to reach other for Christ. With that, God led me to be a laborer in this plentiful harvest of college students with Master Plan. I am stoked to see how God works through my life and MPM in changing lives for the sake of Christ!

Rachael's Story

Luke 9:62, "Whoever puts his hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the kingdom of God." This verse struck a deep note inside of me my junior year of college. I realized that I had not been fully trusting God with my future, and it was at this point that I decided to put all of my plans into God’s hands. During the next year, the Lord grew my heart for college students. Specifically, that summer I did an internship with Master Plan Ministries, and right after that I went to Alaska for my dream Environmental Studies intern. At the end of the summer I compared the two interns and was surprised to realize that I longed to work more in college ministry than other areas, even beautiful Alaska!

I considered several ministries, but was drawn to MPM because of its family size and the fact that I could personally vouch for the Christ-centered impact that it has had on my faith. College ministry is important to me because first my husband, Dakota, came to know Christ at college, then (in Hawai’i) I began walking with the Lord in college, and then my younger brother also gave his life to Christ at his university! I cannot ignore that at college the harvest is indeed plentiful and the workers are needed! I am humbled that I get to be one of those workers.
